Teach for Hong Kong Study-trip Grant
The Teach for Hong Kong (THK) Study-trip Grant is a financial loan-grant program that will provide teachers with the means to partake in study trips, community work, or other opportunities to further their education, which they may not otherwise have access to. The Grant recipient will either partake in a travel/study tour approved by the Foundation or propose his/her own project.
Objective
In view of the fact that many secondary school teachers rarely have the opportunity to broaden their horizons outside of the classroom, the THK Study-trip Grant will provide teachers with the means to partake in study trips, community work, or other opportunities to further their education. We believe that, through the enhancement of knowledge base and the provision of opportunities to simultaneously pursue passion as well as reduce stress, such a program not only will promote among teachers the ideal of life-long learning, but also will improve the quality of their teaching. The Foundation will collaborate with schools so that their teachers may be aware of, and participate in, this program.
Progress Report
The selection of an applicant will be based on the quality of the application and a required interview by the Grant Selection Committee of the Foundation. Priority will be given to those who can demonstrate education need, interest, enthusiasm, and financial hardship. The Committee, which will decide the exact amount of the award, may recommend cost adjustments and changes in activities to the applicant before awarding a grant. The maximum the Foundation may provide will be HK$50,000 per applicant. The payment will be in the form of a loan, and the repayment of the loan will be waived upon completion of the proposed travel/study activities and a satisfactory report.
